An hour with a gorilla family
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering 331 sq. km of steep, tangled montane rainforest in south-western Uganda. It shelters roughly half of the world's mountain gorillas across several habituated families, alongside chimpanzees, forest elephant and more than 350 bird species including 23 Albertine Rift endemics.

How difficult is gorilla trekking?
Treks vary from gentle to genuinely strenuous, on steep and muddy terrain at altitude. A reasonable level of fitness is needed; porters are available and highly recommended.
How do permits work?
Uganda issues a limited number of permits per family per day. We secure them at the time of booking — they frequently sell out months ahead in peak season.
What should I bring?
Waterproof hiking boots, long sleeves and trousers, gardening gloves for the vegetation, a rain jacket and a small daypack.
